  19. The official upgrade kit from Commodore contains a ROM that is jumpered 
  20. from pin 1 to pin 31 (a wire soldered to the pins and running over the 
  21. back of the ROM).  For rev 3 through 5 motherboards its just 
  22. plug-n-play.  For rev 6a and above motherboards you cut the jumper.

  24. If the ROM they are selling doesn't have a jumper then you will have to 
  25. add it yourself which is probably what the rep was telling you.

  27. Be advised, if there is no jumper on the ROM (or it has been cut) you are 
  28. probably buying used merchandise.
